From chilly waters to warm friendships
Zeytinliköy village offers many experiences of island life and is centrally located to allow you the discovery of other beauties of Gökçeada. There are many activities to occupy visitors on the island:
- Visiting the castle ruins in Kaleköy to enjoy the sunset and drink tea in the Bedouin tent on top of the hill
- Trekking to the waterfall
- Visiting the rock sarcophagus at Kefalos
- Using the healing mud baths in Aydincik and diving in to the sea to wash off the mud with sand for the peeling effect
- Visiting Dereköy, once the largest village in Turkey, but now inhabited by 50 people only. On the left of the church is a well maintained old laundry place worth visiting
- Have a look at the other three original villages, Tepeköy, Eski Bademliköy and Kaleköy
- Drinking natural spring waters at the untouched springs at Marmaros
- Do watersports on Aydincik beach
- Shop at the local markets in Gökçeada
Gökçeada is a volcanic island and the geological formations reflect a unique natural beauty. The island has been inhabited for over 4000 years and therefore history is in evidence wherever you visit.
The island offers a wide range of beaches and pristine waters such as Kefalos, Marmaros, Kaleköy, Yıldızköy, Yuvalı, Uğurlu, Gizliköy, Kuzulimanı and Güzelceköy. All these sand and pebble beaches are reachable by car, many more by boat. |
